Community channel service configuration

You can modify default service configurations on the Console.

Service configuration​

Community channel service configuration is managed on the Chat settings page under Chat > Chat settings > Community Channels.

  • Restrict message access to members: Controls whether users who have not joined a Community Channel can retrieve its message history.
  • Enable pre-join history access by new member: Controls whether users can retrieve messages from before they joined a Community Channel.
  • Community Channel cloud message storage: Default retention is 7 days. If you need a longer storage period, contact us.
  • Push notification frequency: By default, a maximum of 1 push notification per channel is generated per minute for each user per Community Channel. @mention messages are exempt from this limit.
tip

Because Community Channels can have a high volume of regular messages, push notifications for regular messages are triggered only after 2 messages have accumulated, to control offline push frequency. @mention messages are not subject to this restriction.
